1. Teaching philosophy- Dr. Zalina’s teaching philosophy is mainly focused on ensuring the students understand the lectures and she gives more attention on cultivating independent study habits in the hearts of the students she teaches. She is also friendly to students and always encourages students to ask her any questions regarding the lecture notes and to be more open instead of being shy.
2. Teaching style- Dr. Zalina teaches the lecture in a slow paced manner and always emphasise on main points or keywords found in the lecture which I find very useful and helpful as its more easier to focus on rather than reading the whole lecture which has almost 100 pages at least. Moreover, she always asks everyone whether they understand the lecture or not before moving to the next slide. And after class is over, we have to submit our own questions from the lecture that she taught, and the questions will be used as our revision before exam.
3. Student engagement- Student engagement is always present as the lectures are monitored by Dr. but the lectures are read by the students. Very fun way of learning the lecture and tries to always involve a 2-way communication.
4. Student background- The students are mostly from Terengganu and Kelantan with a few others from different cities but nonetheless, the way she approaches students of different backgrounds are equal. The language she uses is easily understandable and polite to everyone. She treats everyone fairly although there are some students from different races and cultures in our classroom.
5. Hope and expectations- Always high and always encourages student to act at their best behaviour all the time which is actually very important and great. She hopes for the best for everyone and tries her best to make the students succeed.
6. Assessment method- Dr. Zalina assesses students based on their work and initiative during her class or laboratory experiment. She will always keep an eye on us and ensure that we are always doing something regarding the experiment instead of doing nothing. She also assesses students based on their honesty and does not like copying other people’s work.
