Journey as an Academician

My main passion has always been cancer research, particularly in breast cancer genomics and precision medicine. However, through my work, I realized that a lack of knowledge leads to poor awareness, impacting early detection, treatment outcomes, and overall community health. This realization fueled my commitment to education, as I believe that bridging the gap between scientific knowledge and public awareness is crucial in improving healthcare.

At the same time, I developed a deep love for teaching immunology—a subject that is complex yet fundamental in understanding how the body defends itself. Many students struggle with immunology because of its intricate mechanisms, and that challenge motivated me to make it more accessible and engaging. Even during my undergraduate years, I participated in coaching sessions and tutorials, which strengthened my desire to teach and help others grasp difficult concepts.

" Teaching is the bridge between knowledge and change—it empowers individuals, transforms communities, and builds a future where education becomes the foundation of progress"

After completing my PhD, I began my career as a lecturer in medical and health sciences, where I had the opportunity to teach MBBS, Bachelor of Medical and Health Sciences (BMHS), and Nursing students. To enhance student learning, I explored innovative teaching methods, integrating digital simulations, gamification, and technology-driven learning tools. My role later expanded into curriculum development, accreditation, and open and distance learning (ODL) initiatives, ensuring that education remains accessible and impactful.

Beyond teaching, I continue my work as a breast cancer genomics researcher, leading projects on genetic screening and precision medicine while actively engaging in community-based health education programs. To me, teaching is not just about imparting knowledge—it is about empowering individuals, transforming communities, and making a lasting impact on healthcare and society.
