Professional Profile

Ts Dr Kamarul Amin is an academic medical imaging practitioners (diagnostic radiographer) and Associate Professor at UniSZA with a strong background in medical imaging and artificial intelligence. His expertise lies in deep learning models for cancer detection, image quality and dose optimisation, and innovation in medical imaging education.

He is currently serving as the Deputy Dean (Academic and Graduate Studies) and previously served as the Head of School of Medical Imaging at Faculty of Health Sciences, UniSZA. He is also currently leading the National Curriculum Review Committee for Standard Programme of Medical Imaging as well as the Scientific Committee for several national and international conferences.

Dr Kamarul teaches core subjects including Digital Image Processing, Computed Tomography, Artificial Intelligence in Imaging, and Health Law and Ethics. He employs student-centred learning strategies such as problem-based learning, clinical case integration, and hands-on coding via Google Colab to enhance students’ comprehension of complex topics.

His signature educational product, iLearnDx, is designed to support non-computer science students in understanding medical image analysis through guided, interactive Python modules.
