TnL Improvement and Professional Development
TEACHING AND LEARNING IMPROVEMENT
From time to time, I have tried to improve my teaching and learning approaches to ensure a positive and engaging environment. Various workshops and courses have been attended since 2018 in order to make sure I can improve the current methods to accommodate various types of students backgrounds and pace of learning.
In line with one of the elements in the future-ready curriculum (FRC) of transformative teaching and learning deliveries, I have introduced a cybergogy approach in one of my courses. After attending one of the workshops organised by UniSZA, I have tried to develop an augmented reality (AR) module for DBP21903 (Computed Tomography) in order to try new ways of teaching the students. With the rapid change of technology, AR and virtual reality (VR) has become one of the NEW ways to make sure the class session becomes more interesting. At the moment, the module is in progress and insha'Allah will be used in the next semester II session 2021/22.
Another element that I am currently keen to do is about SULAM course. Currently, a course name Medical Imaging for Community is planned to be embedded in the Bachelor of Medical Imaging programme. This course is to expose the students to the importance of providing services that have an impact to the community. In addition, this course will be run through an outreach program that the funding is recently approved by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
To ensure the profession and education are aligned together, I have taken proactive steps by attending various annual meetings organised by professional bodies such as the Malaysian Society of Radiographers, the European Federation of Radiographer Societies etc. These bodies have run various webinars that are related to the professions.
In addition, I also participated in as an active committee in the Majlis Dekan Sains Kesiahtan. Recently, the first national workshop has been organised that gathers all institutions in Malaysia that offer programs of health sciences. Many proposals and ideas have been gathered and proposed to the relevant Ministries such as the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Health. Current issues have been discussed especially on the teaching and learning in health sciences programmes.
