AP Dr Norwati Daud

MY JOURNEY INTO EDUCATION

Assalamualaikum, My name is Norwati Daud. Currently I am a medical lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine. I am a Family Medicine Specialist and medical educationist by training.


After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine (MBChB) from University of Dundee, UK in 1997, I started my career as a medical officer in several places which were Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kubang Kerian Kelantan in 1997, Hospital Kota Bharu in 1999 and Hospital Pasir Mas in 2000.


Having a passion in education, I applied for a post as a trainee lecturer in Family Medicine and hence pursued a Master’s degree in Family Medicine in Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2002 & graduated in 2006. I started my career as a medical lecturer at the Department of Family Medicine, School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia. 

During this period,  I became the coordinator for undergraduate programme (Family Medicine Posting) and the coordinator for the postgraduate programme (Masters in Family Medicine). I Was also involved in the postgraduate training and the Co-joint examination of Masters in Family Medicine.


My interest in education went further when I did another Master’s degree in Medical Education from Universiti Sains Malaysia and graduated in 2020.


In 2015, I joined The Faculty of Medicine, UniSZA as a lecturer for Family Medicine Course and later in 2020 was appointed as the coordinator of  the Medical Education Department, Faculty of Medicine.


In 2022, out of my own initiative to understand more about my patients and my students, I enrolled in Bachelor's degree in Psychology at the Open University Malaysia.
