Falsafah yang jelas dengan kepercayaan dan nilai

My teaching and learning philosophy is grounded in the belief that medical education should produce doctors who are not only knowledgeable and clinically competent, but also compassionate, ethical, and committed to lifelong learning.

I believe that effective medical education must cultivate holistic development in students, encompassing cognitive knowledge, clinical skills, critical thinking, communication abilities, and professional values required in patient care.

My perspective on teaching has been strongly shaped by my professional experience. Prior to joining Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin in 2020, I served in the Ministry of Health Malaysia for eleven years, where I was directly involved in patient care in primary healthcare settings. This experience has reinforced my belief that meaningful learning occurs when students are able to connect theoretical knowledge with real-life clinical practice. Therefore, I emphasise contextualised learning where students are encouraged to apply theoretical knowledge within authentic clinical scenarios, particularly in the field of primary care where patient management requires a holistic and patient-centred approach.

I also believe that students are active participants in the learning process. The role of an educator extends beyond the transmission of knowledge; it involves facilitating learning, guiding students to construct their own understanding, and nurturing their confidence in clinical reasoning and decision-making.

As such, I strive to create a supportive, interactive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to engage actively in discussions, ask questions and reflect on their learning experiences.

Recognising the evolving learning preferences of the current generation of students, I also value the integration of innovative teaching approaches and educational technologies in medical education. I believe that the use of blended learning—combining face-to-face clinical teaching with digital learning tools—can enhance student engagement, promote active learning and provide more flexible learning opportunities. Ultimately, my aim is to create meaningful learning experiences that prepare students to become competent doctors who can respond effectively to the healthcare needs of society.
